Widget Overview

User functionality

Users can discover their organization and the different teams by navigating through the Organization Chart widget. 

• Navigate using the mouse, zoom in and out to get a better overview
• Open/Close the team of a manager by clicking on the chevron
• Contact the right person by Teams chat or email

The Organization Chart displayed can also be downloaded as PDF file

Use cases

The Organization chart can be used in different context :

• To display the organization of all the company
• To display the organization of a department or a business Unit
• To display the organization of a service team like HR or IT support

Prerequisites

Extended delegated permissions are required for the Organization Chart widget to work properly. It uses the following permissions: 

• User.Read.All

If the web part does not yield any results, it is probable that permissions were not granted during installation. 

Technical notes

The Organization Chart widget creates a hierarchical tree and displays data based on Microsoft 365 Entra ID data. The tree is built using the manager/managed link based on the "manager" property.
The manager of each profile needs to be up-to-date in order to display the organization chart for your company

Setting up the web part

The Organization Chart widget has three types of settings available:

• Layout

• Content Setting

• Display

The generic customization options are not covered in this article. You can find details and tips on these options in the Design Customization of web parts article.

Content settings

Referent

You have to identify the person at the top of the organization you want to display.

• If you want to display the whole company, use the director or the CEO
• If you want to display a certain department, choose the head of the department

Tag Settings

• You have the option to choose the complementary profile information you want to display in the Organization Chart. It can either be the Department or the Office Location of the employee.
