The Unified Experience navigation bar transforms your site into a fluid and intuitive environment. Wherever you are on your site, the search tab allows you to perform searches and quickly access essential resources while staying in a unified and cohesive interface.
Activating the Search Feature
To enable the search functionality in the navigation bar, follow these simple steps:
- Access the Jint Configurator
- Navigate to the Search menu
- Enable Search Display
Configuring the Search Feature
Once search is activated in your SharePoint site via the Jint extension, you can customize its settings to better meet your users’ needs.
Number of Results
You can define the number of results displayed in search:
- Adjust this limit to provide either a concise view or a more comprehensive list, depending on the volume of your site’s content.
- A well-thought-out configuration enhances the clarity of results and improves navigation efficiency.
Source of Results
Search can be configured to cover different scopes based on your requirements:
- Extended Search Across All Site Collections: Ideal for comprehensive visibility across all your organization’s content.
- Targeted Search on a Single Site: Useful for specific use cases where users need localized content.
Types of Results
To refine results further, you can limit the search to specific types of content:
- Documents (e.g., PDF, Word, Excel)
- SharePoint Pages
- Sites
By restricting results to relevant content types, you simplify access to the most useful resources for your users.
Advanced Search
If no results match the search query:
- An error message will appear to inform the user.
- This message includes a clickable link configured in the Configurator, which redirects users to an advanced search page.
❗Jint recommends adding an advanced search link.
Adding a link to a Research Center will provide users with access to a variety of filtering features, enabling them to refine their searches more effectively. This enhanced experience will improve the likelihood of obtaining more relevant results.
Why Configure These Options?
- Enhanced Accuracy: Customizing results and sources makes it easier for users to access relevant content.
- Optimized User Experience: Error messages with redirections prevent frustration and ensure smooth navigation.
- Increased Productivity: A well-configured search reduces the time spent looking for information, boosting overall team efficiency.
