Jint's Search Center allows you to build the right search experience for you!
This article introduces you to the research center in a global way, and presents to you the use cases and the possible configurations of the research center!
Jint Search Center Features
Modular Research Center :
The Jint research center consists of 3 Webparts :
- The search bar Webpart which allows the user to enter the keywords of his search
The search result Webpart which allows the user to display the results, to sort them and to filter according to the verticals - The search filter Webpart to specify the proposed search scope
This modularity allows you to create the layout and user experience that suits your users needs !
Microsoft Search Engine
The Jint's search center is powered by the Microsoft Search engine from Office365. Search, the new Microsoft engine still in development, brings many evolutions:
- Designed for partners and API integration development like our Jint research center
- Search now fully integrates SharePoint and OneDrive
- Microsoft Search is still in development, and will expand to search the entire Office365
- Microsoft Search offers connectors to extend your search reach outside the Office365 environment! You can add your tools in a single search experience.
Today, we integrate the entire SharePoint and OneDrive perimeter. We intend to increase the range to enable you to expand the reach and consolidate all your business information in one search engine.
A fully customizable search
In the search center, we give you tools to set up your search by defining :
- The search scope on the following criteria: Site collection, content type and file type, associated metadata, and filters on any properties of the search engine, as well as the ability to enter your own KQL query for the most advanced uses.
- Define filtering and refinement options for your search experience
- Define the search verticals that are most relevant to your users
A no-code search, ready to use in a few moments
The research center does not require any development skills, and allows you to set up your research center in minutes!
- The search center offers you an interface to configure an experience without any line of code
- The most used properties are proposed in the form of pre-saved parameters
- The input help guides you to search and identify the criterias to use
A modern user experience
- Real-time search is updated as the user enters
- Filters, refinements and verticals give users the tools to narrow down results and navigate to identify the information they are looking for.
- Two modern result layouts that make it easy to find the right information
- Actions are available directly on the result to exploit it
The uses of the Jint research center
Global search engine Digital Workplace
The first use of Jint search center is to allow you to set up a global search center for your users.
Search center's mission is to allow users to find any information present within their Digital Workplace.
The main features of the research center are as follows:
- The search center uses the three search Webparts : the bar, the results and the search filters
- The research center is located on a page of a global site open to all employees
- The perimeter is as wide as possible so that the user can find any information to which he has access.
- Filters and verticals are generic to meet the largest number of search cases.
- The page containing the search center is set up as a search center in the unified experience and in the SharePoint search settings.
Specific search engine
The specific search engines correspond to Electronic Document Management (EDM) oriented uses and offer more advanced business searches.
The characteristics of the specific research are as follows:
- The specific search engine uses the three search Webparts : the bar, the results and the search filters
- The search engine is placed on the business area corresponding to the theme of the search
- The search scope is identified and constitutes your business library. The scope is defined in terms of site, file type and metadata or properties.
- Filters and verticals can be more specific to use subcategories of your library and business data to refine your search. This business data is generated by your processes such as publication dates, validation dates, expiration dates or status.
- Refining can easily be implemented on any structured data you use on your library to allow the user to search much more efficiently.
Here are some examples of specific search engine uses
- Search on a given theme (e.g. HR documentation, on a skill)
- Documentary research (reference documentation, product sheets, procedures)
- Search on an organizational perimeter: project, department
Document Library
The document library use case allows you to set up the display of a document library, whose scope you can define very precisely with the result Webparts.
The characteristics of the library display usage are as follows:
- The specific search engine uses the search results Webpart
- It is placed in a business or collaboration area where there is a regular need to access materials from the library
- The scope of the search Webpart corresponds to the library to be displayed
- It is possible to customize the verticals to provide a very simple search functionality to segment the library.
Here are some examples of specific search engine uses:
- Thematic library
- Latest updated documents
- List of sites
- Document template launcher
- My documents: documents updated or viewed by the user
- List of events
Search redirection bar
It is possible to implement a search bar only on your department or project homepage. Thanks to the Webpart settings, the user is redirected to a page of your choice, which should contain a complete search center.
This feature and usage allows you to give access to the search on a home page, without the search feature taking up space on this page dedicated to communication.
