Presentation of the Webpart
The search result Webpart is part of the Jint search Webpart set! Jint search allows you to build a custom search experience to fit your needs.
The presentation of the features and global use cases of Jint search is presented in the article Mozzaik365 Search Center.
User functionality
The search result Webpart allows you to display, navigate and act on the objects returned to the search, and offers a lot of settings to customize your experience.
-
Display of results
The Webpart displays the user's search results in two layouts.
Table Layout
The table layout allows you to display more results. However, it does not display any visuals and is mostly suitable for document, image or page type results.
Tile Layout
The tile layout is more streamlined and supports a wide variety of results, as it is more modular. It also allows you to display thumbnails of pages, articles, videos and images to more quickly identify its content.
Card Layout
With the Card design, your articles, images, videos, and presentations are highlighted with a preview of the result. This preview allows you to immediately identify the image that suits your presentation in a library of images, or visually locate the document you need.
-
Search Verticals
The verticals are tabs allowing the user to filter the results by file type, source or property. The user can use search verticals to navigate and filter through the results to get to their result faster.
-
User actions
The user can consult each result, and has personalized actions for each object: sharing, copying the link, downloading, opening in the Office desktop application.
-
Contributors feature
As a contributor, you can set the search experience you offer to users:
- the scope of the research
- the visual appearance
- research verticals
Add the Webpart
- Open the edit mode of the SharePoint page by clicking on edit at the top right of the page,
- At the desired location, select the "+" button to open the Webpart catalog,
- Search or pull down the catalog to select the "search bar" Webpart in the "Documents, Lists and Libraries" category,
- The Webpart is added to the desired location.
Setting up the Webpart
There are 4 categories of parameters available for the Webpart:
- Layout
- Connecting the Webpart
- Set up the search
- Display of results
- Display option
Layout
In the layout, you can choose :
-
The layout of your choice
You can choose between the layouts Cards, Tiles and Table. This is the default layout displayed when the page loads, which the user can change.
It is possible to remove the ability for the user to change the results' layout, in order to standardize the experience.
Connecting the Webpart
The search result Webpart works with the other search Webparts.
The connection is automatically made if only one Webpart "search bar" and "search filter" exists on the page. If not, simply select the Webpart from the drop-down list.
In each Webpart, its ID is displayed in order to identify it in case you have several identical Webparts on the same page.
Set up the search
The search configuration allows you to define the scope of your search.
-
Source of results
Jint search is now done in SharePoint and One Drive. It is possible to specify the scope within SharePoint and to include or not the results coming from One Drive.
You can choose between :
- All sites: the results displayed to the user come from all the sites to which he has access.
- A list of sites: the results displayed to the user come from the selected sites to which the user has access. Be careful, this does not allow to display data from a site to which the user does not have access.
- This site: displays only the results available on the current site.
-
Filter on result types
We offer filters to bring up only specific content in the search, based on the type of result.
By default, all contents are brought up if no result type filter is selected.
We offer you a number of pre-configured and easily usable categories. The image filter, for example, includes a wide range of image formats used.
It is possible to add custom extensions to target the files/documents you want to target in the search.
The result types Pages, News, Sites, Events, Libraries and Folders correspond to SharePoint objects.
-
Filter on terms
You can filter your search based on the terms you assign to your SharePoint content
See the SharePoint documentation: Overview of Managed Metadata
To do this, you define one or more term selections.
The content retrieved will be the one containing at least one term of each selection. The search is performed as follows:
(has one of the terms in selection 1) AND (has one of the terms in selection 2) AND ....
To add a term selection, click on the "Add a term" button. A new panel is displayed to select the desired terms:
Once you have selected the terms, simply click on the "Save" button to validate your selection. It is possible to add other selections, to modify a selection or to delete one:
In the example above, the filter performed on the articles will bring up the articles to which we have associated one of the terms "Event", "Release", "HR" of the term set "Theme", AND one of the terms "Executive Management" and "Marketing".
-
Filter on SharePoint properties
The property filter allows you to define SharePoint property criteria to limit the available search scope.
You define a filter with the following elements:
- The SharePoint property on which the filter should be performed
- Filter data type: Date, number, boolean, text
- The type of filter that is different for dates and numeric values from the one proposed for text.
- The value(s) you want to fill in on these filters
-
Customized query
Finally, you can define yourself the KQL query that will be used to filter the search.
Attention, the KQL query is added to the set of filters defined in this section. No validation of the KQL query is done beforehand.
See the Microsoft documentation on KQL queries
The custom query allows you to go further than what we offer in no-code via our settings options by calling directly the Microsoft Search API.

Search Verticals
The verticals are tabs that allow the user to filter the results by file type, source or property. The user can use search verticals to navigate and filter through the results to get to their result faster.
You can customize the search verticals you offer to your users via this menu, so that the options are personalized and context-sensitive.
We offer 13 pre-configured verticals that you can activate/deactivate with a single click. You can then define your own custom verticals to create complex and contextualized business filters using terms, document properties and relative date filters.
Example of custom verticals:
- HR Procedure: List of documents identified with the metadata "Procedure" and "HR" and the document status "Released".
- Recently updated document : Documents modified within the last month

Properties displayed
The button "Set properties" opens the panel to edit the displayed properties.
The properties are set for the current disposition, meaning you have full control over the properties displayed for each layout.
By example, you can choose to dislay the tags of an element for the Cards layout only.
In the panel, the properties set for the current layout are displayed. You can re-order freely the properties by a drag-and-drop action with the icon on the left of each element.
For the "Cards" layout specifically, you can set the image ratio with the dropdown menu.
In the right corner of the list, the "+" button allows you to add a new property to be displayed. You can select a preset property, or set a custom one.
The form to add a property has the following fields :
Name : The displayed name of your property. It will be displayed in the component and in the properties list.
Managed property : The managed property name in the SharePoint search schema.
Properties suggestions are displayed upon typing in this field. A property's name isn't displayed in the suggestions if there isn't any item with a value for this property.
By example, if you have a "Color" property, it will only be displayed in the suggestions if there is at least one element with a value for this property.
Type : Define the way the data will be displayed in the component. Not every type is compatible with every properties (ex: the type "Person" can only be used for managed properties which return a user)
-
Behavior
The toggle "Hide on mobile" specifies if the component will be displayed on mobile.
-
Angles Rounds
You can choose the shape of the borders of your search results items. This option isn't supported by the Table layout.
-
Shadow
You can set the shadow for the items. The shadow will be visible upon hovering an element.
