Web part overview
This article describes the web part "Knowledge Management" which allows exploring pages and documents of one or more sites by metadata.
We use this web part in this site in the "Our web parts" tab of the navigation. It allows you to search for web parts more easily and gives you the possibility to filter by tag to refine your search.
Use it to allow your collaborators to simply search for content!
This web part is now obsolete and will no longer be available at the end of 2023. We recommend using the Mozzaik365 Search Center instead.

Web part options
General
When the web part is added to a page, a theme must be associated with it. In the "Content" menu, choose the desired Topic field.
In order for the field to be visible in the options, it must be created in the site columns and not just in the library. The column names must not be created with spaces or special characters. Spaces are replaced by the string "_x0020_" which causes an error. So you have to create the column without spaces and then rename it.

Web part behavior
The web part offers two types of filters:
- A free text field.
- A filter on metadata.
- An item is displayed in the results if it matches the free text field AND if it matches the selected tags.
- Pages and documents are moved up, a behavior that can be set in the Content section of the control panel.
- By default, a page matches the selected tags if it has one of the selected tags. For example, if you type the text "Knowledge Management" and select the tags Communication and Project Space, you search for a page corresponding to Knowledge Management with one of the values of the linked metadata Communication OR Project Space. It is possible to change this behavior in the settings (Content section) so that the page must match all selected tags.
- When the user has not performed a search, the results are sorted by modification date. This is also the case when the user runs a search, unless the setting has been changed in the Topics tab of the control panel.
- The results returned are by default only from the current site. This behavior can be changed in the web part settings, in the Filter section.
- It is also possible to add a filtering of the results on a site metadata. For example, if you create a wiki page for the Technology X section of your site, you can display only the pages of this technology and create a wiki home for each technology without creating multiple sites.
The web part uses SharePoint Search and the pages and documents must be indexed to be displayed. Therefore, allow a little time between the addition of a page or the modification of its theme and its display on this web part.
It is always possible to filter by theme from the search bar, even if you do not display all possible themes.
