To allow you to distribute your mobile application internally to your employees, as part of a private B2B distribution, it is necessary for us to obtain a unique identifier specific to your organization, both from Google and Apple.
These identifiers will enable us to configure the private distribution of the application on each respective platform. Below, we present the steps to follow to retrieve these identifiers on each platform.
1. Android — Organization ID from Managed Google Play
Managed Google Play is the console dedicated to businesses, allowing them to distribute Android applications privately to their employees, thus avoiding publication on the public Play Store and ensuring strict control over the distribution of applications.
If you already have a Managed Google Play account:
- Start by going to https://play.google.com/work and log in with your organization's administrator account.
- Once logged in, click on the Admin Settings icon, represented by a gear located at the top right of the screen.
- In the panel that opens, look for the field named Organization ID. This identifier is a string of numbers, for example
01234567890123456789. It is essential that you provide us with this identifier so that we can proceed with the distribution configuration.
If you do not yet have a Managed Google Play account:
- Also go to https://play.google.com/work.
- Click on the Sign up button and fill out the form by entering your company's name.
- You will need to accept the Google Play distribution agreement for businesses, called the Managed Google Play Agreement. It is important to note that no credit card is required, as this service is completely free.
- Once your account is created, follow the procedure described above to retrieve your Organization ID.
Finally, if your company already uses a mobile device management solution (MDM/EMM) such as Microsoft Intune, Google Workspace, VMware Workspace ONE, or others, it is likely that a Managed Google Play account is already associated with your organization. We therefore recommend that you contact your IT department before creating a new account to avoid duplicates.
2. iOS — Organization ID from Apple Business Manager
On the Apple side, the equivalent of Managed Google Play is Apple Business Manager (ABM). This portal allows businesses to acquire and distribute iOS applications privately to their employees while maintaining full control over distribution.
If you already have an Apple Business Manager account:
- Log in at https://business.apple.com with your organization's administrator account.
- Once logged in, click at the bottom left on your name, then select Preferences.
- In the Enrollment Information section, you will find the field Organization ID.
This identifier may also be called DEP ID or MDM Server Token ID depending on the context. Please provide us with this identifier.
If you do not yet have an account:
- Go to https://business.apple.com and click on Enroll now. You will need to provide information about your company. Apple will notably ask for a D-U-N-S number, which is a business identifier issued by Dun & Bradstreet. This number is free and can be obtained or verified directly on Apple's site during registration if you do not yet have it.
- A person from your organization will need to be designated as administrator and another as verifier; these roles can be held by different individuals. Apple will then verify your request, which may take a few business days.
Once your account is approved, follow the procedure described above to retrieve your Organization ID.
And then?
Once we have received these two identifiers, we will be able to proceed with the following steps:
- On the Android side, we will publish the application privately on your Managed Google Play. This means the application will only be visible and accessible to your employees, ensuring secure and restricted distribution.
- On the iOS side, we will make the application available as a private purchase in the form of a Custom App on your Apple Business Manager. You will then be able to distribute it to your employees either via your MDM solution or by using download codes (redeem codes).
If you encounter any difficulties or if any step seems complex, do not hesitate to contact us.
We are available to support you throughout this process and help you successfully achieve the private distribution of your mobile application.
