This guide provides all the necessary steps for administrators to install and configure the Jint Newsletter Studio feature.
Who is this guide for?
This process requires the involvement of several administrative roles. Make sure the person responsible for each step is available.
- SharePoint Administrator
- Entra ID Administrator (formerly Azure AD)
- Security Administrator
Step 1: Prerequisites
❗Crucial: Before proceeding, you must have enabled the Unified Experience and installed the Contribution Center. Newsletter Studio will not work without them.
Step 2: Grant SharePoint Permissions
- Required role: SharePoint Administrator
These permissions allow Newsletter Studio to function within your SharePoint environment, for example to retrieve news articles.
- Go to your SharePoint Admin Center.
- In the left menu, go to Advanced > API Access.
- In the "Pending requests" section, you will see requests for Mozzaik365 Mailing (Jint Mailing coming soon)
- Select and Approve each pending request, one by one.
Step 3: Grant API Access
- Required role: Entra ID Administrator
These permissions allow the Newsletter Studio app to securely access the necessary Microsoft 365 services.
- Open the following consent link: Consent link for the Mozzaik365 Mailing app
- A permission request window will appear. Review the requested permissions.
- Click Accept to give your consent on behalf of your organization.
Step 4: Whitelist the Sending Address
- Required role: Security Administrator
This step is essential to ensure that emails sent by Newsletter Studio are not blocked by your organization's anti-spam filters and reach all users.
- Address to allow: newsletter@jint.io
About the sending address
All newsletters are sent from the technical address newsletter@jint.io to ensure maximum deliverability and compliance. Although content creators can choose a sender name (for example, "Internal Communications" or an employee's name), the actual sending address will remain this one.
Procedure:
- Go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
- In the left menu, click on
Show all, then go to Admin centers > Security. This will open Microsoft Defender. - In Microsoft Defender, follow the path:
Email & collaboration > Policies & rules > Threat policies > Anti-spam. - Click on the Default inbound spam policy to open its configuration panel.
- In the panel, find the section "Allowed and blocked senders and domains" and click on Edit allowed and blocked senders and domains.
- Under the "Allowed" section, click on Manage senders.
- Add the email address newsletter@jint.io and save the sender.
- Click Save at the bottom of the panel to apply the policy update.

Step 5: Ensure User Access
- Required role: SharePoint Administrator / Contribution Center Administrator
The final step is to grant specific users or groups permission to use Newsletter Studio. Access to Newsletter Studio is managed through the Contribution Center permissions.
To assign access, please refer to the "Governance" section of the Contribution Center documentation, where you can define which users are authorized to create and manage newsletters.
Setup Complete
Newsletter Studio is now installed and configured. You can inform your content creators that they can start creating and sending newsletters from the Contribution Center, provided they have been granted access in Step 5.
Technical Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Why do we need to approve API permissions both in SharePoint and in Entra ID?
A: These two sets of permissions serve different purposes. SharePoint permissions allow Newsletter Studio to access specific SharePoint content, such as news articles. Entra ID permissions (Microsoft Graph API) are broader and allow the app to read user profiles and group memberships for recipient targeting, as well as send emails on behalf of a user.
Q: What happens if we do not whitelist the address?
A: Your newsletters could suffer from poor deliverability. Emails might be automatically marked as spam, sent to users' junk mail folders, or even completely blocked by Microsoft’s security filters before reaching the inbox.
Q: Can we change the sending address newsletter@jint.io to an address from our company (e.g., comms@mycompany.com)?
A: No. The technical sending address is fixed to ensure high deliverability and to efficiently manage bounce-backs via our managed service. However, you can customize the sender display name to match any user in your directory, and that is what recipients will see in the "From" field of their mail client.
Q: We followed all steps, but our users cannot find Newsletter Studio. What is the issue?
A: Please check the following points:
- Prerequisites: Confirm that both the Unified Experience and the Contribution Center are installed and functioning properly.
- License: Ensure that the premium Newsletter Studio feature is included in your organization's Jint plan.
- User access (Step 5): Verify that the user has been granted permission to access Newsletter Studio through the Contribution Center governance settings.
Q: How well are newsletters supported in the classic desktop version of Outlook?
A: We have made specific improvements for the classic Outlook desktop client. However, this older client has known rendering limitations and is being gradually phased out by Microsoft. For the best and most reliable viewing experience, we recommend using the new Outlook, the web version (OWA), or the Outlook mobile apps.
